Valencia, which has received a takeover bid from a
Singapore billionaire, said on Thursday they have
appointed their former Argentine striker Juan Antonio
Pizzi as their new coach.

Victor Valdes recovers from calf strain

Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes says he has
recovered from a right calf strain and is fit to return to
the team after the Christmas break.
The 31-year-old sustained the injury during Spain's
humbling 1-0 defeat to South Africa in a friendly on
November 19 in Johannesburg, the site of their 2010
World Cup victory.
"Training session today December 25. I am ready," he
wrote in a message on his official Twitter account.

Mohamed Aboutrika has officially retired after
confirming his decision to his club Al Ahly.
The 35-year-old Egyptian midfielder announced his
intention to retire after the quarter-final of the Club

Sunday Mba has been allowed to leave # Nigeria #
SuperEagles training camp for the African Nations
Championship (CHAN) to finalise a move to French side
CA Bastia.
The Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi was philosophical about
losing Mba for January's CHAN finals in South Africa.
"The CHAN team will have to move on," Keshi told BBC
Sport.
"There have been other players who have left [the CHAN
squad] before Mba."
